| 抄録 | 본고는 티벳사서 『바셰』의 다양한 버전들과 『부뙨불교사』, 그리고 『청사』에서 공통적으로 언급되는 ‘선정의 가르침(곰룽 sgom lung)’과 『바셰』의 최초기 버전에 묘사되고 있는 ‘秘訣/秘敎/秘傳’(맨악 man ngag)’이라는 어휘들에 의해 정중 무상의 禪이 정중 무상과 티벳사절단의 만남을 통해서 티벳에 유입되었다는 사실을 밝혔다. 아울러 둔황에서 출토된 펠리오 티벳사본 No.116에 나타나는 정중 무상의 禪法은 수행에 의해 터득되거나 성취되는 것이 아니라 깨달음이 그 자체로 구비되어 있다는 내용을 함축하고 있으며, 아울러 정중 무상의 禪法은 반야바라밀과 밀접하게 연계된 頓悟의 가르침으로 해석될 가능성이 있는 것으로 보여 진다.
This paper examines the facts concerning Kim Hwasang(680-756/684-762) on the basis of the various versions of the Testimony of [the minister] dBa'/sBa (dBa'/sBa bzhed), the History of Buddhism by Buston (Bu ston chos 'byung), the Blue Annals (Deb ther sngon po), and Pelliot manuscripts from Dunhuang (No.116).
To sum up, Kim Hwasang's teaching of Chan (禪) is ascertained to have been transmitted to Tibet through the meeting of Kim Hwasang and Tibetan envoys in that the phrase ‘teaching of meditation’ (sgom lung) appears commonly in the various versions of the Testimony of [the minister] sBa/rBa(sBa bzhed), the History of Buddhism by Bu ston (Bu ston chos 'byung), the Blue Annals (Deb ther sngon po) and in that the phrase ‘secret instruction’ (man ngag) appears in the earliest version of the Testimony of [the minister] dBa' (dBa' bzhed). In the master Kim Hwasang’s teaching appearing in Pelliot manuscripts from Dunhuang (No.116), the enlightenment is supposed not to be obtained by practice but to be inherent in oneself, which might be interpreted to signify the teaching of sudden awakening (dùnwù 頓悟). |
