| 抄録 | With Yijing and his fellow monks, we see the great devotion and brevity to their belief in Buddhism. Yijing describes the life in Indian Buddhist monasteries on two bases: One reflects his understanding in accordance to the text of vinaya and another is based on his experience and observation in the monasteries or in other places. In Yijing’s own words his book was written in “accordance to the sacred teachings and the principle rules practised now in India.”Yijing in his Nanhai jigui neifa zhuan provides an almost complete picture of the Buddhist disciplinary life in India, South east Asia and China. Based on his own observation he described in his book every detail related to the life in Indian Buddhist monasteries. In my paper, I have mentioned, he said he discussed all matters according to the rules of the Mūlasarvāstivādins and one should not mix or confuse them with the rules of other nikāyas.
In Yijing’s Datang xiyu qiufa gaoseng zhuan we find much more detailed description, on the architectural plan of Nālandā. It includes discussion on the history of Nālandā, the origin of its name, the characteristics of its architectural distribution and building construction, and the scenery around Nālandā. Since these reports are very detailed they make up for the lack of archeological discorveries and help understand the former glory of Nālandā.
우리는 순례자 의정과 그를 따르는 스님들에게서 불법신앙과 위대한 희생 그리고 용기를 본다. 의정은 두 가지를 기본으로 하여 인도 불교사원의 생활을 그려냈다. 첫 번째는 율장에 바탕을 둔 그의 이해를 반영한 것이고, 두 번째는 사원과 기타 지역에 있어서 의정의 경험과 관찰을 기본으로 한다. 의정에 의하면, 그의 저서는 “지금 인도에서 행해지는 성스러운 가르침과 근본적인 교리와 일치하여” 기록되었다.
의정은 『남해기귀내법전』에서 인도, 동남아시아, 그리고 중국의 불교 계율에 관련된 삶을 완벽하게 그려내 제공한다. 의정은 자신의 관찰을 기초로 한 그의 책에서 인도불교 사원의 삶을 상세하게 그린다. 나는 논문을 통해서, 의정은 그 자신이 근본설일체유부의 계율에 의거하여 모든 문제를 토론한 것이므로 그 밖의 니까야의 계율과 뒤섞거나 혼동해서는 안 된다”는 점을 논했다.
우리는 의정의 『대승정삼장법사현장전』에서 나란다의 건축 설계도를 더 많이 발견한다. 나란다 역사, 그 이름의 기원, 건축분포와 건물구조의 성격, 그리고 나란다 주변 경관에 관련한 토의가 포함된다. 이러한 기록들은 너무나 상세하여 고고학상 발견의 미비한 점을 완벽하게 만들어 나란다의 이전 영광을 이해토록 한다.
