| 抄録 | 정토는 유심과 타방의 이원적으로 해석되는 경향이 있다. 그 가운데서도 유심정토는 동아시아 불교에서 커다란 영향력을 발휘하였다. 본 연구의 중심은 정토 자체에 대한 논의를 확장하여, 주요 담론 하나로 부각된 ‘윤리학으로의 전환’과 연결시켜 본 것이다.
정토는 우선 안락행을 의미하며, 예토와 열반의 중간 세계에 해당한다. 이는 정결한 땅으로서 거룩함이 현현하는 것으로 설명된다. 고통스런 사바세계의 불자가 정토를 수행으로 관하여 현현하고자 할 때 정토의 교주는 신체의 특성을 32상 80종호의 온전한 모습으로 나타난다. 또한 정토의 거주자는 그 형상과 모양에서 차별성이 없는 것으로 제시된다. 이 점은 그리움의 대상으로 남아 있는 정토를 제시하므로 타자성의 영역에 자리하게 된다.
이 점에서 정토가 제시하는 신체의 특성을 유심적 정토 너머로 견인하여 공동체적 사회에 대한 검토가 가능하다. 역사적 정토 구현은 삼계교에서 특정된다.
삼계교의 역사적 전개와 사상적 측면을 검토하고, 이상사회로 제시된 유토피아들을 간략하게 검토하여, 정토에 내재된 타자성들을 신체 이미지를 중심으로 논의하였다.
극락정토를 향한 보살행은 물질성을 토대로 예토에서 중간윤리를 실천하여야함을 경전 등에서도 확인할 수 있다. 이때 정토는 불교 사회윤리의 초석을 제시할수 있으며 기존의 동기론과 결과론에 바탕을 둔 윤리문제를 뒤로하고 타자에 대한 관용이라는 구체적 사회윤리를 모색하도록 한다고 결론내릴 수 있다.
The purpose of this study is to review the possibility of the Social Ethics of Buddhism by reviewing the properties of the Pure-Land(Jeongto) anew. Among them, The ‘Yushim-Jeongto’(唯心淨土) exerted great influence in East Asian Buddhism. The focus of this study is to expand the discussion of the Pure-Land itself. Therefore, I have linked it to the 'conversion to ethics' that has emerged as one of the main discourse.
The Pure-Land means comfort firstly, corresponding to the middle world of The Dirty-world(穢土) and Nirvana(涅槃). It is described as a clean land, and holyness is present. By observing from this land, the Pure-Land appears in a perfect and sterile form. In particular, the Buddha of Pure-Land is a great figure of 32 aspects, namly ‘mahāpuruṣalakṣana’. This aspect allows the Pure-Land to remain the object of longing. Because of this, the territory of Pure-Land is located in the realm of The Otherness.
For the development of logic, the historical development and ideological aspects of The San-Jie-Jiao(三階敎) were reviewed. And Utopia presented as an ideal society was also briefly reviewed. And the Character of Otherness inherent in the Pure-Land were discussed around the body image.
In the Scriptures, it can be found that the Practice(修習) of intermediate ethics in the Dirty - world(穢土) based on materiality is to be carried out. At this time, the Pure-Land can provide the basis for Buddhist social ethics.
We should overcome ethical problems based on motivational and consequential theories and seek specific social ethics of Tolerance to others.
