| 抄録 | 중국불교는 그 전래 초기로부터 본토의 儒 · 道 양가와의 끊임없는 상호영향 가운데 전개되어진다. 특히 유가와 불교는 ‘心性論’에 있어서 역대로 긴밀한 영향을 주고받았다. 불교는 주로 ‘佛性論’의 전개에 있어서 儒家의 사상을 흡수하였으며, 儒家는 다시 후대에 불교 心性論의 영향을 받아 ‘性理學’으로 발전시키고 있다. 이러한 儒佛融合의 결과로 ‘出世’지향의 불교에 ‘入世’지향으로 전환시키는데 결정적인 영향을 준다. 儒佛融合의 경향이 가장 두드러지게 나타난 것이 바로 근대시기라고 할 수 있다. 그것은 역대의 儒佛融合이 儒家의 우월한 정치적인 지위로 인하여 불교의 이론을 결합시켜 보다 나은 통치사상을 모색하고자 했던 것과는 달리 근대시기에 있어서는 순수한 사상적인 융합을 시도했다고 볼 수 있기 때문이다. 근대시기의 儒佛融合은 불교와 유가의 우월성을 논하기보다는 민족적인 각성으로부터 서로 융합하여 西學에 대응하려고 하였고, 또한 그를 통하여 당시의 여러 가지 문제를 해결하고자 했던 의도가 담겨있었다. 중국 근대시기에 이러한 儒佛融合은 다양한 측면으로 전개되는데, 그 가운데 불교에 있어서는 太虛 ·印順의 두 法師가 창도한 ‘人生佛敎’ ·‘人間佛敎’가 가장 대표적이다. 본고에서는 역대의 儒佛融合의 과정을 간략히 고찰하고, 그것이 근대시기에 어떻게 인간불교에 표출되었으며, 그 작용은 무엇이었는가를 논하였다. 인간불교에 나타난 儒佛融合은 근대로부터 현대에 이르는 중국사상의 흐름에 있어서 중대한 의미를 갖는다. 儒佛融合은 바로 西學의 전래에 따른 문화적 충격에 있어서 중국문화의 보호와 발전의 두 측면에 모두 중요한 작용을 일으켰다. 즉, 西學을 주체적으로 흡수시키는데 중요한 잣대의 역할을 했을 뿐만 아니라 중국의 전통문화를 현대적으로 전향시키는데 있어서 또한 중요한 역할을 하였던 것이다. 특히 불교에 있어서는 유불융합의 인간불교가 전통적인 틀로부터 벗어나 현대적으로 변용시키는데 결정적인 작용을 한다. 그것은 현재 중국이나 臺灣 등의 중화권 불교에 있어서 ‘인간불교’에 대한 탐구가 가장 중시되고 있음이 그 반증인 것이다.
Budhism in China had been developed constantly the interpenetration of Confucianism and Buddhism from the beginning transmission. In particular Confucianism and Buddhism had given and taken intimately influences since old times in mentality nature theory. Buddhism had absorbed mainly the thought of Confucianism in the development of Buddhism nature theory and Confucianism extended the doctrines of human nature theory after ages accepting Buddhism nature theory. The interpenetration of Confucianism and Buddhism had given a decisively influence turnovering from aim at leaving world to aim at human world. The tendency of the interpenetration of Confucianism and Buddhism can say a modern times coming out an extremely prominence because this can look through trying out a pure ideological interpenetration in modern times. In a different way the interpenetration of Confucianism and Buddhism in old days groped a better rule ideology uniting Buddhism theory dueing to a predominance stutus. In modern times the interpenetration of Confucianism and Buddhism coped with western learning helping each other from the national awakening rather than debating a superiority of Confucianism and Buddhism and the intention which solve various problems put into it. In modern times in China the interpenetration of Confucianism and Buddhism developed various sides. It stands for supremely in Buddhism preaching human life Buddhism and human Buddhism by TaiXu and InShun. In this article, the process of the interpenetration of Confucianism and Buddhism in old times studies briefl and It expressed how is human Buddhism and discussed what is the operation. The interpenetration of Confucianism and Buddhism coming out a human Buddhism have a importance meaning flowing the ideology of China from modern to contemporary. The interpenetration of Confucianism and Buddhism caused an importance operation in protection and development of China culture and a cultute shock following a transmission western learning. In other words, It played an importance role not only acted an important measuring absorbing independently but also reformed up to date an traditional culture of China. Specially in Buddhism human Buddhism of the interpenetration of Confucianism and Buddhism have become a huge factor acculturating up to date free itself from traditional frame. In present in Buddhism of China, Tiawan and greater China a quest of human Buddhism is a serious consideration. It is evidence to the contrary.
