| 抄録 | 본 논문은 한국 지장신앙의 전개와 지장신앙 의례의 형성을 밝히고자 한 것이다. 지장신앙은 삼국기로부터 『大方廣十輪經』 등 관련 경전의 전래를 바탕으로 불교신앙의 한 축을 이루었던 바, 현재 지장신앙은 관음신앙과 함께 양대 보살신앙 중 하나로 자리하고 있다. 관음의 大慈에 대한 지장의 悲願 사상은 삼국을 거쳐 오늘에 이르러서도 불교 실천행의 규준이 된 채 불교 신앙의 指南을 형성했던 바, 지장신앙의 전개 및 신앙의례에 대한 고찰은 悲願의 흔적을 탐구하는 작업이기도 하다. 필자는 先學들의 연구 성과와 기존 문헌 및 자료를 바탕으로 지장신앙의 한국 전개 양상과 신앙의례를 개관하였는 바, 삼국기 지장신앙의 전래로부터 통일신라의 점찰법회와 지장신앙 의례의 초기적 형성 양상을 밝혀 보았다. 또한 고려조에 행해진 治病과 薦度의 지장신앙 그리고 조선 전기에 형성된 지장보살 禮文과 地藏菩薩⋅十王에 대한 헌공례 등 지장신앙 의례의 성립과 전개에 대해 살펴보았다. 한편 조선후기에 성행한 十王信仰과 十齋日 형성을 통해 지장신앙은 시왕신앙과의 연계를 통해 불교신앙의 한 축으로 자리잡게 되었음을 말하였다.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the development of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva faith and the formation of its ceremonies in Korea. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva faith made one of the axes of Buddhism through the transmission of the related scriptures from the period of Three Kingdoms. Today it is one of the two major Bodhisattva faiths in the nation along with Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. The Karuna ideology of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva for the Meta of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva has been the standard of practice act in Buddhism and offered guidance for Buddhism since the period of Three Kingdoms, which means the examination of the development and religious ceremonies of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva faith also involves the exploration of the Karuna traces. In the study, the investigator provided an overview of the development patterns and religious ceremonies of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva faith in Korea based on the results of the previous studies, literature, and data, as well as examined the transmission of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva faith during the period of Three Kingdoms, the Jeomchal Buddhist Mass during Unified Shilla, and the early formation patterns of its ceremonies. Also examined in the study were the formation and development of its ceremonies including Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva faith of cure and Buddhism memorial service during Goryeo and Yemun and Heongongrye for Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and the Ten Kings of Bardo during the former half of Joseon. It also found that Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva faith formed a connection with the Ten Kings of Bardo faith, which was popular during the latter half of Joseon along with Shipjaeil (meaning the ten days memorial service), and thus established itself as one of the axes of Buddhism.
