| 抄録 | 본고의 목적은 불교의 의사, 간병인, 환자 윤리를 살펴보고, 이를 통해 불교 의료윤리의 원칙들을 제시하는 것이다. 불교문헌에 나타나는 좋은 의사는 질병의 증상과 원인, 치료법 등 의학적 지식을 충분히 갖추고, 불교의 지혜와 충돌하지 않게 치료하며, 연민으로 환자를 치료하는 의사이다. 좋은 간병인은 약과 간병에 대한 지식과 기술을 갖추고, 재물에 대한 욕심 때문이 아니라 자애의 마음 때문에 환자를 간병하고, 환자의 대소변과 토사물을 싫어하지 않는다. 좋은 환자는 자신에게 유익한 것을 하고, 약을 사용하고, 간병인에게 질병의 경과를 솔직하게 말하며, 고통을 잘 견뎌낸다. 의사, 간병인, 환자의 치료와 돌봄의 바탕에는 생명 존중이 있으며, 신체의 내적 균형, 환자의 상황을 고려하는 것이 치료 지침이다. 불교에서 의사, 간병인, 환자는 치료와 돌봄의 관계이자 서로의 수행을 도모하는 자리이타의 관계이다. 불교의 의사, 간병인, 환자의 윤리를 살펴봄으로써 우리는 불교 의료윤리의 다섯 가지 원칙을 발견할 수 있다. 그것들은 지혜의 원칙, 생명 존중의 원칙, 우애와 연민의 원칙, 균형의 원칙, 관계의 원칙이다.
This paper examines the ethics of physicians, caregivers, and patients from the Buddhist perspective, and presents the principles of Buddhist medical ethics. Buddhist literature describes good physicians as having sufficient medical knowledge and treating patients with compassion in harmony with Buddhist teaching. Good caregivers possess knowledge and skills in medicine and care. Their motivation arises from benevolence, not greed for wealth, and they do not resent the patient's urine and vomit. Good patients do what is beneficial for their condition, take their medicine, communicate honestly with caregivers about the progress of their disease, and endure pain well. Treatment and care in Buddhism are based on respect for life. The guidelines for treatment and care consider the internal balance of the body and the patient's condition. In Buddhism, the relationship of doctors, caregivers, and patients promotes each other's Buddhist practice. By examining the ethics of Buddhist doctors, caregivers, and patients, we can derive the five principles of Buddhist medical ethics: wisdom, respect for life, friendship and compassion, balance, and relationship. |
