抄録 | The creation of the 18th-century Manchu Canon (Man.: Manju gisun i ubiliyambuga amba kanjur nomun, Chin.: Qingwen fanyi dazangjing 清文繙譯大藏經) is a fascinating chapter in the translation history of Buddhist scriptures. While its sūtras were translated from the Chinese canon (Qianlong edition), the vinaya texts were rendered from the Tibetan. The creation of the Manchu Canon must been seen in the context of the other early Qing edition projects, the paragon of which being the immense Siku quanshu 四庫全書. The aim of this article is to provide an overview of the current research concerning the Manchu Canon. It also describes the digital research archive of material related to the Manchu Buddhist Canon at Dharma Drum Buddhist College. |
