| 抄録 | 인도 제 학파는 일반적으로 인간의 일체지 획득 가능성을 긍정하며, 일체지를 완전한 존재성인 해탈의 인식 상태로 기술한다. 그 가운데 무신론의 자력 수행 전통에 있는 자이나교는 해탈자를 곧 일체지자(sarvajña)로 일컬으며, 교의와 수행의 중심점에 두고 있다. 본 논문은 자이나 수행론의 지향점으로 기능하는 일체지(자)와 관련된 명상을 연구하기 위해 ‘일체지자 명상’이라는 용어와 개념을 제시한다. 1) 직접적으로 일체지자로 이끄는 명상 2) 일체지자의 명상 3) 일체지자를 대상으로 하는 명상이라는 3가지 기준에 따라 전통적 순수명상과 후대 탄트라적 명상인 루파스타-루파바르지타 명상을 분석하여 비고 고찰한다. 12C 헤마찬드라의 Yogaśastra와 Svopajñavṛtti(自註)는 전통적 수행과 탄트라化된 명상을 망라한 수행논서이므로 이를 기반으로 연구한다. 본고 Ⅱ장에서는 우선 일체지(자) 개념과 일체지를 추구하는 자이나 수행과 명상론을 살펴보고, Ⅲ장과 Ⅳ장에서 각각 전통과 비전통의 일체지자 명상에 해당하는 순수명상과 루파스타-루파바르지타 명상을 고찰하여, Ⅴ장에서 자이나 전통적 명상과 비전통적 요소의 혼재와 변형에 관해 비교 고찰할 것이다. 순수명상은 2단계의 완성에서 일체지가 현현하고, 3-4단계에서는 일체지자가 행하는 무여열반(無餘涅槃)의 기법을 극명히 보여준다. 이 단계에서는 물질적 업(業)의 지멸을 통해 무종자 삼매를 완전히 실현한다. 한편 당대 탄트라 명상 체계의 틀에 명상의 대상으로 자이나 일체지자(지나)를 배치한 루파스타-루파바르지타 명상에는 무종자 삼매 단계가 없다. 이렇게 탄트라化된 일체지자 명상은 전통적 명상론과 내적으로는 비정합적이지만, 엄격하고 엘리트적인 전통 명상이 탄트라化 되면서 대중화되어 개방되어갔다는 의의를 부여할 수 있을 것이다.
Generally schools of Indian religion and philosophy describe the spiritual completion of human beings who have achieved mokṣa with a term sarvajña(omniscient). Among them, the Jains who are atheist and observant of the tradition of practice, call their founder Mahāvīra with this term. This paper studies meditation of omniscient in Jain practice system. The scope of this concept is wide and complicated, but can be explained with three criteria; 1) meditation which causes omniscience to a person, 2) meditation performed by an omniscient, and 3)meditation towards omniscient. With these criteria, the meditation of omniscient in Jainism is sell represented in the Yogaśāstra and auto-commentary (Svopajñavṛtti) on it by Hemacandra (12th c. CE). This text refers to traditional Pure meditation(Śukla-dhyāna) and Tantric meditation (Rūpastharūpavarjita-dhyāna). Both of them are varieties of omniscientʼs meditation, and the auto-commentary repeatedly explains the former as meditation by an omniscient and the latter as meditation toward form and nature of omniscient. The Yogaśāstra is combination of traditional theory of practice with Tantric yoga. With this text we can see how Jain meditation system changed under the influence of Tantrism. The chapter two of this paper explores the concept of omniscient and omniscience as well as the relationship between omniscient and practice system in Jainism. Chapters three and four will examine the traditional Śukla meditation and Rūpastharūpavarjita meditation, which corresponds to orthodox omniscient meditation and unorthodox one respectively. In chapter five, we will compare two kinds of omniscient meditations. The Śukla meditation consists of four stages and when its second stage is completed an omniscience occurs to a yogi. The following third and four stages are practiced by the omniscient. During these stages the characteristics of Jain meditation in pursuit of nirbīja-samādhi clearly manifest themselves. On the other hand, Rūpastharūpavarjita meditation do not reflect traditional practice theory. This Tantric meditation accommodates the Tantric yoga system. and here Jain omniscient or Jina is placed as an object of meditation. Therefore, this Tantric meditation on omniscient can be assessed to be inconsistent with traditional Jain theory of meditation.
