| 抄録 | 불교와 동아시아 전통의학 사이에는 분명 정서적 친근성이 있고 일견 많은 연관성이 있는 것처럼 느껴지지만, 실제로 그 역사적 연결점에 대해서는 많이 알려진 바가 없다. 일부의 연구들이 있지만 구체적으로 영향관계의 구도를 그릴 정도로 충분히 밝혀지지 않았다고 할 수 있다. 이처럼 기원과 관련된 접점이 드러나지 않음에도 불구하고 그 세계관에 있어서는 소위 관계론적 사유라는 측면에서 많은 공통적 요소가 있다. 본 논문은 그중에서 육체와 정신의 관계에 있어서 기반이 되는 사유를 중심으로 양자 간의 공통점을 시론적으로 추출해 보는 것에 일차적인 목적이 있다. 그런데 양쪽 문화권의 이와 같은 고대적 사유를 연구함에 있어서 맞게 되는 어려움은 『황제내경』에서는 그런 사유의 근원이나 역사적 변천과정을 알아내기 힘들다는 점이고, 인도 문헌에서는 신체로부터 사유가 일어나는 메커니즘을 파악하기 힘들다는 점이다. 본 논문의 이차적인 목적은 이와 같은 난점들을 상호보완하여 거칠게나마 하나의 그림을 그려보는 것이다. 그것을 통해서 육체적 질환과 정신적 질환 사이의 상호연관성을 다루었던 양쪽 문화권의 의학체계의 사상적 ․ 역사적 근간을 알아보기 위한 방법론을 모색해보고자 한다.
There is a definite emotional affinity between Buddhism and Oriental medicine (East Asian traditional medicine). Although, at first glance, one feels that there must be a significant connection between the two, in reality, not much is known about the historical connection. Prior studies have not clarified this issue sufficiently or analyzed the nature of the influence relationship in detail. Although the original point of contact has never been discovered, their shared world view reveals many common elements via so-called relational thinking.
The primary purpose of this thesis is to theoretically extract the commonalities between Buddhism and Oriental medicine, focusing on the reasoning that underpins the relationship between the body and the spirit. However, it is challenging to research such ancient thought in two cultures because it is difficult to discover the source of such thought or the historical process of change in the Huangdi Neijing (黃帝內經, the Inner Canon of the Yellow Emperor). It is also difficult to understand the mechanism through which thought emerges from the body in Indian literature.
The secondary purpose of this thesis is to draw a rough picture of the commonalities by surmounting these difficulties. It aims to find a methodology capable of uncovering the ideological and historical basis of the medical systems in both cultures, which dealt with the interconnection between physical and mental diseases. |
