| 抄録 | 認為中國文明孤立保守，甚至閉關鎖國的觀點，缺乏歷史依據。即便放在整個人類文明發展史來看，中國文明從開始就積極擁抱外來文明元素，展現出了高度包容的特質。繁榮於今天巴基斯坦西北部和阿富汗地區的古代犍陀羅（Gandhara）文明，從公元前后一直到公元7世紀，都與中國古代文明關系密切，尤其是在佛教傳入中國並本土化的過程中扮演了重要角色。中國文明對這一遙遠文明的擁抱是全方位的：從佛典語言與宗教信仰的傳入，到中土政治理論與實踐的更新，甚至到新的藝術形式與故事主題出現，我們都能看到中國古代文明對犍陀羅文明的吸收與包容。可以說，這種世界主義的開放性和包容性，造就了輝煌的中國古代文明；也正是如此，中國文明才得以長盛不衰。
The Gandhara Civilization, which flourished in today’s northwest Pakistan and Afghanistan, maintained a close relationship with China from the 1st century to the 7th century. In particular, it played important roles in the introduction of Buddhism to China. Chinese acceptance of Gandhara cultural elements broadly reshaped its worlds of religions, culture and art. Buddhist texts written with Kharosthi scripts brought Buddhist religions and literature to China. The ideas from Gandhara provided Chinese rulers alternative political ideologies and legitimating means. Gandhara art promoted the appearance of new art forms and story themes in early medieval China. This illustrates the cosmopolitan openness and tolerance of Chinese civilization, which is another important reason for its longevity. |
