抄録 | Considers Therevada Buddhist traditions of religious music in relation to a contemporary setting in Sri Lanka. Restraint of the senses is encouraged by prohibiting monks from listening to music, while the laity are urged to appreciate and legitimize religious music. These two strands share the shifting of attention from the self and the development of wholesome dispositions of mind that are conducive to the first vision of Nibbana. |
