抄録 | This paper analyses, from a phenomenological point of view, the theory of the fourfold division of consciousness as it is presented by the Chinese Buddhist monk Xuanzang (600-664) in his "Cheng Wei Shi Lun". This theory goes back to the Indian Buddhist epistemologist Dharmapala (530-561) and holds that all mental states, cognition as well as imagination, volition and feeling, consist of four elements or "parts":an objectivating act,an objective phenomenon,self-awareness, and awareness of self-awareness. |
