抄録 | The article explores Chinese Buddhism's use of the metaphor of illusion in the writing and teaching of Chan monk Zhongfeng Mingben . It examines the historical use of the metaphor in Buddhist and non-Buddhist sources and discusses how Minghen examined the use of language. It discusses his use of, and the difference between, the terms illusory abiding and illusory man. It examines how he deals with these concepts in the essay "Huanzhu Jiaxun" and traces how his thoughts were developed through his studies. |
