This paper reviews the newly published Research on Dunhuang’s Buddhist Communion Images. The reviewer finds that this book presents a clear and concrete study on the connotation and development of Buddhist communion images in Dunhuang caves, explains in detail the contents and process of development of the images, and provides the underlying social and cultural context. He concludes that this book will help readers gain a systematic and deep understanding of this kind of Buddhist images from Dunhuang. |
