| 抄録 | 본 논문은 법선(法詵, 718-778)의 저작들 중에서, 정리된 부분이 유일하게 현존하는 『범망경소(梵網経疏)』를 대상으로 하여, 다음의 두 측면에서의 고찰을 시도한 것이다.
· 법선 『범망경소』 권상의 신출자료·동대사도서관(東大寺図書館) 소장본의 서지적 위치 부여.
· 법선 『범망경소』의 사상적 특징
법선의 『범망경소』는 에타니 류카이(惠谷隆戒)에 의한 번각과 『대일본속장경(大日本續藏經)』 권 1집, 제60, 제3책에 수록된 『범망경소상』의 두 종류의 텍스트의 존재가 지적되어왔다. 전자는 『범망경소』의 첫 머리부터 상권의 도중까지, 후자는 상권의 후반에 상당하는 부분이다. 이 두 종류의 자료는 직접적으로 이어지지 않으며, 상권에 해당하는 부분에는 공백부분이 존재한다. 논자는 동대사도서관 소장자료를 조사하는 중, ‘귀중서(貴重書) X114-267’ 『범망경소』라는 명칭의 사본을 발견하였다. 이 사본(이하 『동대사본』)은 위에서 언급한 두 종류와는 별도로, 법선의 『범망경소』 상권의 사본이다. 에도시대 중기로부터 후기의 것으로 추정되는 이 『동대사본』은 에타니 선생이 번각한 부분도 포함해, 더 많은 개소가 기재되어 있다. 이 사본의 발견에 의해 에타니 선생이 번각한 문장의 오류를 수정할 수 있게 되었다. 또한 본 논문에서의 고찰 결과, 『동대사본』은 속장경에 수록된 것과 직접적으로 이어질 가능성이 있음이 드러났다. 이는 『동대사본』과 속장경수록본을 통해서 법선의 『범망경소』 상권이 복원가능함을 시사한다.
그 밖에도 법선 『범망경소』에 기재된 사상의 내용에 관해서도 기본적인 고찰을 하였다. 본 논문에서 분명히 밝힌 점은 다음과 같다.
법선의 『범망경소』는 삼취정계(三聚淨戒)를 기반으로 하여 『범망경』에서 설하고 있는 계(戒)의 양상을 설명하는 등, 법장(法藏) 『본소(本疏)』의 영향이 크다. 하지만 법선의 『범망경소』는 『본소』의 내용에 입각하면서도, 여래장 사상적인 깨달음을 향한 과정 속에 계를 자리매김하려고 하는 점 등, 독자적인 내용을 담고 있다. 이러한 법선의 해석은 『대승기신론(大乘起信論)』의 사상을 여래장연기로서 해석하고, 이를 중심적인 사상으로서 중시해가는, 법장으로부터 혜원(慧苑)으로 이어지는 사상적 흐름 속에서 자리매김할 수 있다. 또한 법선의 『범망경소』에는 수계의 차제(次第)가 기제되어 있어, 그 내용에 관해서도 간단히 소개하였다.
In preceding studies, Faxian (法詵, 718-778) has been considered as a disciple of Huiyuan (慧苑, 673?─743?) who gave Chengguan (澄観, 738─839) an instruction on Huayan Buddhism. In this paper, we focused on the Faxian’s Fanwang jing shu (梵網經疏, FJS), examining the following two points:
· The bibliographical status of the manuscript of FJS found in Todaiji Library
· The features of Faxian’s thought in FJS
Previous studies of FJS have recognized two printed books of this literature: one is the reprinted version by Ryukai Etani (E), the other is the text included in Dainihon Zokuzo kyo vol.1-60-3 (D). The former records from the beginning to the middle part of the first volume, the latter corresponds to the latter half of the first volume. These two printed books are not directly connected to each other, so there is a missing part in the first volume.
While investigating the Todaiji Library, I found a new manuscript of FJS. Presumably copied in from the middle to late Edo period, this manuscript (T) contains all parts of ‘E’ and more. This means that the miscopies of ‘E’ can be corrected with reference to ‘T’. Throughout the survey we arrived at the conclusion that ‘D’ is directly connectable to ‘T’, so the first volume of FJS can be reconstituted by using ‘T’ and ‘D’.
In addition, we examined the Faxian’s original thought in FJS. Faxian’s commentaries on Fanwang jing (梵網經) is influenced by Fazang’s Fanwang jing Pusajieben shu (梵網經菩薩戒本疏.) Faxian explains the precepts (戒) of Fanwang jing based on the three categories of pure precepts (三聚淨戒); this way of explanation is shared with both Fazang and Faxian. However, Faxian makes an attempt to understand the precepts within a context of the thought of Tathagata- garbha. This interpretation could be positioned in the extended current from Fazang to Huiyuan who value Dacheng Qixin lun (大乘起信論) highly as the conditioned origination of the Tathagata-garbha (如來藏縁起).
