| 抄録 | 4차 산업시대의 도래와 함께 인공지능과 인공지능 로봇은 비약적인 발전을 거듭하고 있다. 이로 인하여 인공지능의 인간지능 대체와 인공지능 로봇의 인간 노동력의 대체현상이 신속하게 초래될 것으로 예상된다. 이와 같은 4차 산업의 변화 속에서, 불교 역시 이전 사회에서는 겪지 못했던 새로운 시대변화에 직면해 있다.
본고는 인공지능과 로봇이 일반화되는 상황 속에서, 불교의 존립과 발전 가능성을 선불교를 중심으로 고찰해 본 것이다. 선불교는 강력한 주관중심의 행복론을 전개하는 수행불교로 인공지능이 대체하기 어려운 영역을 확보하 고 있다. 또한 선불교의 가르침에 내포되어 있는 직관주의와 역설적인 측면은 4차 산업시대에 요구되는 창의력과 직결되는 부분이 존재한다.
이러한 4차 산업시대에서 발견되는 선불교의 가능성은 현실적인 모순을 탈각해 내지 않고 있는 그대로를 완성으로 이해하는 인간이해를 기반으로 한다. 또 선불교의 강력한 주관주의는 비교대상이 존재할 수 없는 인식주체를 확립함 으로써, 높은 행복도가 부여하는 기능을 하게 된다.
이런 점에서 선불교는 4차 산업시대에 매몰되지 않고 인공지능과 로봇이 상용화된 시대를 계몽하고 환기하는 인간행복의 좌표 역할을 할 개연성을 내포한다. 이는 4차 산업시대에 불교의 인간이해와 선불교가 제시하는 방식이 불교의 부흥과 더불어 인간의 소외를 극복하는 정당한 해법이 될 수 있다는 것을 의미한다.
Artificial intelligence (AI) and AI robots have made remarkable progress with the advent of the fourth industrial age. It is expected that the human intelligence will be replaced by AI and the human labor force by AI robot promptly. In such a change through the fourth industry, Buddhism is also facing a new era of change that was not experienced in the previous society.
This paper examines the possibility of the existence and development of Buddhism, focusing on Zen Buddhism in the context that AI and robots are being generalized. Zen Buddhism is a practice-centered Buddhism that has developed a strong subject-centered happiness theory and has secured the areas that AI can hardly replace. In addition, the intuitionism and paradoxical aspects implied in the teachings of Zen Buddhism have some elements directly related to the creativity required in the fourth industrial age.
The possibility of Zen Buddhism found in this fourth industrial age is based on its understanding of humanity that does not try to take off the actual contradictions but accepts them as the completion by itself. In addition, the strong subjectivism of Zen Buddhism functions to grant the high happiness by establishing a subject of recognition that can not be compared with others.
In this sense, Zen Buddhism has a possibility to serve as a coordinate of human happiness that enlightens and evokes this world, where AI and robots are prevalent, without being buried in the fourth industrial age. This means that the Buddhist understanding of humanity and the way suggested by Zen Buddhism in the fourth industrial age can be legitimate solutions to overcome the human alienation, along with the Buddhist revival. |
