| 抄録 | 중국에서 형성되고 전개된 조사선의 가풍은 사상적으로는 본래성불에 바탕한다. 그리고 그 실천으로는 生佛不二를 믿고 그것을 자각하여 일상의 생활에서 구현하는 것이다. 이와 같은 조사선의 기본적인 이념은 이미 선경 가운데 특히 대승경전에서 그 연원을 찾아볼 수가 있다. 곧 모든 보살이 본래의 마음[其心]을 잘 활용한다면 그대로 일체의 승묘한 공덕을 획득한다는 화엄경의 善用其心, 무명의 실성이 중생에게 본래 있었다면 무슨 인연으로 여래는 다시 본래성불이라고 말씀하는 것인가 하는 원각경의 本來成佛, 불성의 의미가 불의 지혜가 유정들 가운데에 작용하고 있고, 본성으로서 無垢인 저 진여가 불이평등하며, 불의 종성에서 그 과위 곧 불이 가설되어 있다는 열반경의 悉有佛性, 저 自心現流하는 중생심의 본질이 그대로 自覺聖智라는 능가경의 사상, 일상의 삶이 진리에 바탕하고 그것에 무분별로 작용하는 유마경의 사상 등이 그것이다.
선경의 이와 같은 본래성불이 사상은 선록에도 전승되었다. 모든 중생이 부처와 동일한 불성을 지니고 있다는 달마의 深信, 혜가의 禪心, 승찬의 信心, 도신의 守一不移, 홍인의 守本眞心, 혜능의 但用此心 등이 그것이다. 이것은 이후 송대에 묵조선과 간화선이 출현하게 된 사상적인 배경이 되었으며, 이후에도 조사선의 근본이념으로서 전승되고 있다.
The purpose of seon practices is enlightenment. The enlightenment means acquire of wisdom of intuition. The wisdom means acquire of compassion. The compassion means acquire of salvation for all living beings.
We can examine the buddhist-sutras of maha-yana. For example, the Avatamska Sutra, the Lankavatra-Sutra, the Great enlightenment-Sutra and the Prajnaparamita-Sutra. This thoughts of maha-yana Sutras handed down in seon-analects of China. For example, the analects of Bodhi-dharma is the deep faith, the words of hueike is the seon mind, the analects of sengtsan is the faith and mind, the analects of taohsin is the keeping the one mind, the analects of hungjen is the keeping sincerity mind, the analects of hueineng is the original nature mind, the words of huaijang is the no contamination mind, the analects of matsu is from the perfected mind, and the analects of paichang is the manifested truth. These are the tradition of enlightenment in seon-analects. |
