| 抄録 | 이 글은 2013년 발표된 둔황문헌 羽726R에 대한 보고서이다. 해당 문헌은 6세기 초반 지론학파의 것으로 추정되며, 그 중에서도 보리유지의 주변으로까지 소급시킬 수 있는 지론학파 최초기의 문헌으로 분류할 수 있다.
羽726R은 보리유지역『입능가경』 중「법신품」에 대한 짧은 주석서이다. 문헌의 구성 상 가장 큰 문제가 되는 것은『大乘十地論義記』라는 제목이 붙게 된 경위이나, 이를 해결할 만한 근거는 확보하지 못하였다. 우선은 현재 사본에 기재된 내용 그대로 하나의 독립된 텍스트로 간주하여 분석을 시도하였다.
해당 문헌의 구성상 특징은 해당 문헌에서 보리유지의 강의록인『金剛仙論』과 유사한 문구들이 다수 발견된다는 점이다. 찬술연대 등을 고찰한다면 羽726R 또한 보리유지의 강의록일 확률이 매우 높은 것으로 추정된다.
사상적으로 가장 뚜렷한 것은 능가경에 대한 이해이다. 羽726R은 法身이라는 테마를 가지고 경전을 해석하고 있는데, 이는「법신품」자체가 가지고 있는 특징이기도 하다. 현대 연구에서 능가경이 주목받는 것은 그것에 나타난 유식학적 사상과 여래장과 같은 주제들이다. 그러한 주제들은 근대 불교학 연구에서 비롯된 동아시아 불교 담론과 연관되어 있다. 그러나 둔황사본에서 찾은 10권 능가의 주석서는 우리에게 그와는 조금은 다른 이야기를 들려준다. 羽726R에서 논하고 있는 것은 능가경의 심식설이 아닌 法身, 즉 깨달은 자의 몸인 것이다.
또 주변적인 사항으로는 十地에 대한 서술이 다양하게 보인다는 점을 들 수 있다. 지론학은 그 이름에서 보이는 것처럼 十地라는 사상적인 체계를 배경으로 전개되고 있으며『십지경론』이후 보리유지가 번역한 유식학 계통 경론들을 통해 유심사상의 흐름을 풍부하게 만들었다.
여러 측면에서 羽726R은 지론학파에 대한 논의들을 더욱 풍부하게 만들 수 있는 내용을 담고 있다. 그리고 해당 문헌의 분석을 통해 이제껏 지론학 연구에서 주목받지 못했던 法身이라는 문제의식을 도출해 낼 수 있었다.
The aim of this paper is to analyze the reference to the Dilun School in early 6th century according to the newly discovered Dunhuang manuscript 羽726R. Its bibliographical features imply that this document was transcribed in Wetstern Wei西魏, 396 A.D., and therefore it could be useful to investigate some interesting aspects on the very early form of the Dilun school. The results of my research can be summarized in three points:
First, although 羽726R was labeled as Daisheng-Shidilun-Yiji(A Commentary for the Treatise of Mahayānān Ten Stages, ≪大乘十地論義記≫), this manuscript was identified as a short but rare commentary to the Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra, translated by the renowned Indian monk Bodhiruci of Nothern Wei. It is remarkable that the 羽726R uses the same technical terms and soteriology as the Jingangxian-Lun (≪金剛仙論≫). Contemporary scholars believe that the Jingangxian-Lun is either a compilation or the study notes of Bodhiruchi’s students, Thus it is highly probable that the 羽726R was also written for the same purpose by Bodhiruci’s disciple.
Second, unlike later treatises and commentaries on the Laṅkāvatāra sūtra, 羽726R analyzes the text using the term dharma-kāya, the body of ultimate truth(眞如法身). Contrary to modern scholarship which usually approaches the Laṅkāvatāra sūtra, along with the Dilun School, mainly focusing on mind theory and regarding the dharma-kāya as a peripheral element, this research tells a whole different story. It brings to light the fact that at least some Northern Wei Buddhists did focus on the notion of the dharma-kāya.
Third, 羽726R is written on the theoretical bases of the ten stages(十地) theory, and has distinctive yet elementary mind-only element. This means that yogacara’s theory had been adopted and substantialized as early as Bodhiruci. Moreover, this paper will attempt to unveil the hermeneutical frameworks for interpreting similar texts from that era.
