| 抄録 | 본 논문은 여래장삼부경으로 분류되는 『승만사자후일승대방편방광경(勝鬘獅子喉一乘大方便方廣經)』, 『대방등여래장경(大方等如來藏經)』, 『불설부증불감경(佛說不增不減經)』을 중심으로 여래장삼부경의 여래장사상이 현대사회에 어떠한 의미가 있는가에 대하여 고찰한 논문이다.
여래장사상은 모든 중생에게 부처가 될 수 있는 종자가 있다는 것으로서 인간학적 측면에서 불교의 평등사상을 보여준다. 따라서 이러한 여래장사상이 현대사회를 살아가고 있는 우리의 수행에 어떠한 사상적 기반을 마련할 수 있는가와 도덕적인 삶을 살아가는데 어떠한 윤리적 지침이 될 수 있는지에 대하여 알아보았다.
본 연구에서는 모든 중생에게 동등하게 갖추어져 있는 여래장에 대하여 여래장삼부경을 중심으로 살펴보고, 여래장사상을 현대적으로 이해하고 실천하는 방법에 대하여 살펴보았다. 여래장삼부경에서는 여래의 법신과 여래장이 다르지 않음을 많은 비유와 논증을 통해 보여주고 있으며, 번뇌에 싸여 있어 드러나지 않지만 수행과 종교적 실천을 통해 그 안에 있는 밝은 여래의 종성을 드러내면 모든 중생이 부처가 될 수 있음을 설명하고 있다.
이러한 여래장삼부경에서 나타나는 여래장사상은 수행의 원리로서는 여래장을 신봉하는 것에서 시작하여 종교적 실천을 통한 체험으로서 그 가치가 드러나게 된다. 또한 윤리적 측면에서는 불교의 평등사상과 인본주의 사상을 바탕으로 이기주의에서 벗어나 함께할 수 있는 철학적 근거를 제시해주고 있다. 즉, 여래장사상은 믿음을 바탕으로 한 실천에 의해 발현되어 자각할 수 있는 것이고, 모든 중생에게 동등하게 부여된 여래의 성품은 현대의 사회문제를 해결할 수 있는 불교윤리적 근거를 제공하는 것이다.
This paper examines the significance of the Tathāgatagarbha thought of Three Tathāgatagarbha Sutras in modern society, centering on Śrīmālādevī-Siṃhanāda-Sūtra, Tathāgatagarbha-Sūtra, Anūnatvāpūrṇatvanirdésa-Sūtra that classified as Three Tathāgata garbha Sutras.
The Tathāgatagarbha thought is that all sentient beings beings have a seed of becoming Buddha, showing the thought of equality in Buddhism in anthropological aspect. Therefore, thispaperexamineshowtheideologicalfoundationof Tathāgatagarbhathoughtcanbeapplied to modern practices, and to the ethical guidelines of a moral life.
This study deals with the topic of the Tathāgatagarbha which are equally equipped for all sentient based on the Three Tathāgatagarbha Sutras, and discusses how to understand and practice the Tathāgatagarbha thought in a modern way. The Three Tathāgatagarbha Sutras shows non-difference between Dharmakāya and Tathāgatagarbha by presenting many parables and demonstrations. Additionally, they explain that all sentient beings can be a Buddha by revealingthebrightnatureof Tathāgatawhichisnotrevealedasitiscoveredwithdefilements through religious practice and training.
The Tathāgatagarbha thought that appears in this Three Tathāgatagarbha Sutras begins from the belief in Tathāgatagarbha as a principle of practice, and reveals its value as an experience through religious tradition. Furthermore, on the ethical side, it provides a philosophical basis for escaping selfishness and embracing connectedness based on Buddhist equality and humanistic ideology. |
