| 抄録 | ``본체와 현상의 공속``이야말로 하이데거와 원효에서 공통적으로 발견되는 사유의 접점이다. 본 논문은 이런 공속성이 원효와 하이데거 간 대화의 접점이 됨을 보여 주기 위한 것이다. 불교에서 ``현상한다``는 것은 ``조건적으로 상호의존하여 나타난다``는 것이고, 이런 관계적 본성인 법성(法性)의 드러남이 곧 생멸의 현상이기 때문에, 불교적 현상은 이면의 ``무엇`` 없이도 전개되는 현상이다. 이런 현상관은 현상 이면의 기체(基體)에 의한 ``무엇의 현상``이 아니라, 현상 자신이 그대로 본체가 되는 현상즉본체(現象卽本體)의 비이원성을 주장하는 것이라는 점에서, 체용상즉(體用相卽)의 현상론이다. 마치 하이데거에서 존재의 밝힘(Lichtung)이 어디까지나 물러남(Entzug)에서의 밝힘이기 때문에, 존재라는 근거는 무근거적이고 탈-근거(ab-Grund)적인 심연(Abgrund)이 되는 것과도 같이, 절상(絶相)이기에 생멸에서 물러나면서도 수연(隨緣)하기에 생멸을 밝혀주는 진여는 어디까지나 무상(無相)의 공성을 그 본성으로 하기 때문에, 생멸의 근본이 되면서도 ``근본 없는 근본``(無本之本)이 된다. 이렇게 진정한 근본이 ``근본 없는 근본``으로 될 때에만, 원래의 근본 자리(本處)에 바탕하면서도 그 자리에 머무르지 않고, 터전으로 삼되 장악하지는 않음으로써, 표상을 통한 존재자의 장악과 분별을 통한 제법에의 집착을 넘어서려는 그 본연의 취지가 잘 발휘될 수 있는 것이다. 이처럼 본체가 현상을 초월하여 지배하지 않고, 현상이 본체와 평등하게 상즉 하는 이런 상호 귀속의 장에서 하이데거와 원효는 대화의 접점을 모색할수 있다.
Wonhyo's One Mind(一心) is not a spiritual entity or a substantial origin, but a dynamic activity of thought to understand unificatively the total process of world and life. In order to clarify this point, the totality of One Mind is compared with the Ereignis in Heidegger's thought. Wonhyo's logic of One Mind is a system of interdependency not to admit any absolute subject and substance, and it is a concurrent logic of double negation and double affirmation. This logic of One Mind as 'non-duality and no guarding the one' is a structural core of the whole of Wonhyo's thought.
The unfolding process of the ordinary consciousness is elucidated by an analysis of 'Three Subtle and Six Crude' in the mind as phenomena. Husserl's phenomenology returns to the transcendental subject, but can not go out of the transcendental consciousness. In contrast to this, Wonhyo's mind as phenomena comes back to the origin of One Mind, but proceeds to the world of Reality(眞如), in which neither the knowing subject nor the known object arises.
Wonhyo considers that there remains no indepedent being and so there is no fixed form or substance. This Formless(無相) is indeed Real Form(實相) and True Emptiness(眞空) is really Wonderful Being(妙有). This Suchness(眞如) is the world as it is and the Reality in a Buddhist sense. In Suchness this world is not divided into subject and object, spirit and matter. This Suchness is a ground of no-ground(無本之本, Grund des Abgrundes) like Being itself (Sein selbst) in Heidegger.
While Husserl was isolated in an island of consciousness, Heidegger over- emphasized Being(Sein) without being concerned about consciousness. The logic of One Mind is needed for overcoming both. Because One Mind can unite Mind as Phenomena and Suchness, and so can reconcile consciousness with reality, thinking with being, and appearance with essence.
Because everything is formed in Dharma and everyone has a capacity for enlightenment on Dharma, Buddha-nature remains in all and Buddha-nature implies Dharma-nature. Since Dharma-nature as the essence of nature and Buddha-nature as the essence of human agree with each other in interdependence and emptiness, nature-human, matter-spirit, and body-mind are not disunited substantially. While the rationlity as the western human nature is a presentation of the exclusive predominance by discriminating mind, Buddha-nature as the Buddhist human nature is a manifestation of the non-dual coexistence by non-discriminating mind. |
