| 抄録 | 신앙을 강조하고 있는 경전은 『묘법연화경』이 대표적이다. 그러나 신앙의 대상과 내용에 대해서는 구조적으로, 해석학적으로 분석되지 않았다. 본 논문은 이를 고찰한 것이다. 불교 신앙의 대상은 여러 경론에서 지적하고 있듯이 佛·法·僧의 三寶이다. 『묘법연화경』에 나타난 佛寶로서의 부처님은 세속의 지식, 즉 俗諦까지 포함하여 일체의 진실한 모습을 모두 아는 최상의 지혜를 가진 존재이다. 또한 온갖 신통력과 불가사의한 능력, 그리고 무량한 수명을 지닌 존재라는 것이다. 즉 유일신교에서 상정하는 全知全能한 신과 별 차이가 없다고 할 수 있다. 僧寶로서는 관세음보살이 있다. 관세음보살은 현재 예불을 드릴 때 文殊菩薩, 普賢菩薩, 地藏菩薩과 함께 僧伽의 上首로서 귀의의 대상이 되는 존재임은 주지의 사실이다. 관세음보살은 불가사의한 지혜와 무한한 능력, 그리고 그것을 가지고 중생들을 구제하려는 큰 자비심을 갖추고 있다는 것이 신앙의 내용이 되지만 더 근본적으로는 그 존재 자체를 믿는 것이 중요하다. 왜냐하면 우리가 알고 있는 역사를 통해서는 석가모니불처럼 이 사바세계에 화현한 일이 없기 때문이다. 신앙의 대상으로서 法寶는 바로 이러한 부처님과 보살님의 광대한 능력을 설해 놓은 『묘법연화경』의 내용이다. 여기에 더해 모든 중생들이 내재되어 있는 불성을 열어 부처의 경지에 오를 수 있다는 것을 밝힌 것이 포함된다. 즉 모든 중생들이 부처라는 無上의 경지에 오를 수 있음을 믿는 것은, 信仰이라는 범주로 넣기는 어려울지라도 적어도 믿음의 내용을 이루고 있다.
Typical Sutra which emphasizes faith is Saddharma-puṇḍarīka-sūtra(Lotus Sutra). However, it did not analyze the object and substance of faith structurally and interpretatively. This thesis investigated them. The objects of Buddhist faith are the Three Treasures called the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha as indicated in various Sutra and Dharma-Shastra. The Buddha as the Buddha Treasure appearing in Lotus Sutra has the best wisdom who knows all true shapes including secular knowledge, that is, even relative truth. Also, he has all sorts of supernatural powers, marvelous powers and infinite life. Namely, he can be said to make no difference from omniscient and omnipotent God supposed in monotheism. The Sangha Treasure is Avalokitesvara. It is common knowledge that when he now pays homage to Buddha he becomes the object of conversion as a leader of Sangha(the Buddhist community) with Manjushri Bodhisattva, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. It constitutes the substance of faith that he has marvelous wisdom, infinite power and great mercy by which to save mankind with them. But more fundamentally, it is important to believe in the being himself. It is because throughout the history known by us nobody transformed himself in this world like Buddha Sakyamuni. The Dharma Treasure as the object of faith is the contents of Lotus Sutra which explained the immense powers of such Buddha and Bodhisattva. Additionally, it involved clarifying that all creatures could reach a stage of Buddha by opening the Buddha-nature internal to them. Namely, believing that all living beings can reach the highest stage of Buddha is difficult to put into a category of faith, but at least constitutes the substance of faith. |
