| 抄録 | 당나라 慈愍三藏(680-748)의 정토교학은 정토의 삼류파 중 하나로 대단히 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 그는 『淨土慈悲集』 3권을 출간하여 여산 혜원이나 도작, 선도류와 다른 정토교학을 전개하였다. 그러나 일찍이 자료가 희귀해져서 널리 알려지지 못하였다. 그런데 송나라 元照律師(1047-1116)가 이를 개판하여 널리 유포하려고 하였지만, 法英선사 등 선종에서 선을 비판하는 내용이 있다고 하는 이유에서 자민삼장이 직접 저술한 眞撰이 아니라 원조가 자민삼장의 명의를 假託하여 출판한 것이라고 관청에 금지령을 내려 줄 것을 요청하는 소장을 제출하였다. 선종과 결탁한 관가에서는 대장경 목록도 자세히 살펴보지 않고 금서령을 내려서 유포를 금지하여 송나라에서는 자취를 감추고 말았다. 그러나 義天大覺國師(1055-1101)가 송나라 유학 중 원조율사에게서 계율과 정토를 공부한 인연이 있어서 서로 편지를 내왕하던 중 우연히 해외 여행객으로부터 3권 중 상권을 입수한 의천은 이를 고려에서 개판하여 유포하였다. 그러면서 이를 편지로 원조율사에게 보고한 것이 「答大宋元照律師書」이다. 그런데 우리나라에서도 이 책이 널리 유포되지는 못한 것 같았다. 오랫동안 자료를 찾지 못하다가 700년만인 1900년 초에 오노겐묘(小野玄妙)교수가 대구 桐華寺에서 그 일부를 발견하여 대정신수대장경 보유판 85권에 편입하게 되었다. 따라서 본 논문은 의천의 『정토자비집』 고려 개판이 갖는 의의와 중요성을 다루었으며, 자민삼장의 정토교학과 의천의 정토사상 연구에도 크게 기여 하고 있음을 밝히게 되었다
The Pure Land teachings of Cimin (慈愍, 680-748), one of the three main streams, played a crucial role in of the Chinese Pure Land Buddhism. He published the Collection on Compassion of the Pure Land (Jeongto jabei jeb, 淨土慈悲集) in three volumes so that he unfolded his teaching different from those of Huiyuan (慧遠, 334-416) or Daochuo (道綽, 562-645). The collection of works, however, became so scarce that it was hardly known to the public. Even though Yuanzhao (元照, 1047-1116) tried making a revised version to be widely distributed, the Jeongto jabei jeb 淨土慈悲集 vanished due to a decree to forbid the book, which was a slander conducted by the members of the Seon Buddhism(禪宗). Nonetheless, Uicheon (義天, 1055-1101), one of the major Korean scholarly monks of the Goryeo dynasty, acquired the first volume of the Jeongto jabei jeb 淨土慈悲集 by chance, revised the text, and published. It is the Da dasong yuanzhao lushi shu 答大宋元照律師書 that Uicheon reported the process to Yuanzhao by letters. However, it seems that the Goryeo version of the Jeongto jabei jeb 淨土慈悲集 had never been widely spread out as well. It has been lost for a long time, but 700 years later Japanese professor Ono Genmyō (小野玄妙) discovered some parts of the text in Donghwa temple (桐華寺) in the early 20th century. so that it became incorporated into vol. 85 of the Taishō Tripiṭaka. This article deals with the historical meaning and its implication of the Goryeo version of the jeongto jabei jeb 淨土慈悲集, which was reedited by Uicheon. It is hoped that this article contributes to the study on the Pure Land teaching of Cimin as well as that of Uicheon. |
