| 抄録 | 본 논문의 목적은 봉은사의 생전예수재의 역사와 현재의 위상 그리고 그 가치를 조명하는 것이다. 조선시대 이후 기록으로 남겨진 봉은사 생전예수재(生前預修齋)의 역사적 근거는 지속성과 사실성을 증명한다. 봉은사의 예수재에 관한 최초의 기록은 불교관련 문헌이 아니라, 윤달의 세시풍속을 기록한 『동국세시기(東國歲時記)』 「윤월조(閏月條)」에 등장한다. 1960년 이후 봉은사는 예수재와 수륙재(水陸齋)를 병행하는 불교의례의 새로운 전형의 모범을 보였는데, 이는 역사적 사료에도 증명된다. 1993년 이후 봉은사는 예수재의 신행운동의 새로운 모범을 보이고 있다. 봉은사는 2016년 이후 생전예수재를 역사적 근거와 의례집의 의문에 바탕하여 충실하게 복원, 전승하고 있다. 현재 매년 설행되고 있는 봉은사 예수재는 제의적 성격과 참여자의 수행적 성격이 공존하는 의례이다. 제의적 성격은 변하지 않게 잘 보존해가면서도 수행적 성격은 다양하게 활성화 시키고 있다. 즉 의례의 전통을 복원하고, 계승하고, 보존하면서, 수행의 실천적 성격은 시대에 맞게 변화를 추구하고 있다. 봉은사 생전예수재를 종교현상학으로서 분석하면 개인의 경험내지 체험은 결코 환원될 수 없는 실재적인 현상으로 이해하여야 한다. 또한 예수재의 주기적인 봉행은 의식의 집전자뿐만 아니라 참여하는 재가신도들 간에도 유기적 공동체를 형성하게 하며, 경험은 일상과는 다른 체험, 성스러움이다. 행위이론의 측면에서 보면 예수재는 참여자들 개인의 적극적이고 능동적인 참여를 요구하고 있으며, 실천적 측면에서는 단순한 문헌 중심의 이론이 아니라 복합적이고 다양성을 내포한 문화의 실현적 성격을 띤다.
With regard to Advance Funeral Ceremony, the purpose of this paper is to illuminate the history, current suatus and its value of Bongeunsa Temple. It examines the historical fondation of Advance Funeral Ceremony at Bongeunsae, which has been left as a record since the Joseon Dynasty, and examines its continuity and reality. Since 1960, Bongeunsa has set a new model of Buddhist ritual that is a combination of Advance Funeral Ceremony, and Ceremony for Saving All Sentient Beings of Water and Land, which is also proved in historical rituals. Since 1993, Bongeunsa is a new model of the new movement in relation to Advance Funeral Ceremony. Bongeunsa Tmeple is faithfully restored and transmitted based on the historical legacy and ritual literatures since 2016. Advance Funeral Ceremony at Bongeunsa temple is coexisted both the sacrificial and the performer personality of the participant. In other words, while restoring, inheriting, and preserving the tradition of rituals, the practical nature of performance is seeking change in accordance with the times. As religious phenomenology, Advance Funeral Ceremony should be understood as a real phenomenon in which individual experience or experience can never be reduced. In addition, the periodic execution of the Advance Funeral Ceremony is not only the expereince of community but also experience of sacredness which is toally different from everday life. In terms of the theory of behavior, Advance Funeral Ceremony requires active of the participants, and in practice, it is not a simple literature-based theory but a complex and diverse cultural realization. |
