| 抄録 | 고광덕은 한국 현대불교사에서 불교 대중화, 불교 현대화를 위해 헌신한 승려이다. 그의 삶, 불교, 사상을 요약하면 그는 불광사상과 불광운동이다. 필자는 그가 걸은 길은 구도행이면서 동시에 보살행이라고 본다. 본 고찰은 광덕 연구를 본격적으로 하기 위한 예비 단계의 글이다. 즉 광덕의 사상, 운동, 의의, 위상, 영향 등을 연구하기 위해 그의 제반 행적, 활동의 내용 등을 세밀하게 살핀 글이다. 이 글은 1974년부터 본격적으로 전개한 불광운동 이전까지의 그의 행적, 움직임, 고뇌 등을 정리했다. 이를 통하여 그가 왜? 불광운동을 전개할 수밖에 없었는가의 필연성, 배경을 살폈다. 이런 배경하의 본 고찰은 1974년 이전 광덕의 행적을 문헌, 증언 등의 자료에 근거하여 재구성한 광덕의 연대기이다. 광덕의 불교사상, 고뇌와 꿈, 현대불교사에서의 위상, 끼친 영향, 불광운동의 계승 등 그에 대한 연구 주제는 다양하다. 본 고찰이 광덕을 연구하려는 학자, 후학 그리고 광덕을 보다 깊이 알고자 하는 사람들에게 참고가 되기를 기대한다.
Go Gwang-Deok was a monk who devoted to popularization and modernization of Buddhism in the history of the Korean Buddhism. To sum up his life, his Buddhism and his thought, He is Bulgwang(Buddha Light) thought and Bulgwang movement. I think that his path was a looking for a way to reach the truth and at the same time Bodhisattva's action. This consideration is a paper for preparatory step in order to study Gwangdeok's in earnest. Namely this writing is a paper which researched his all whereabouts and contents of activity in detail to study Gwangdeok's thought, movement, significance, status and influence etc. This writing is to arrange his all whereabouts, his movements and anguish etc. until Bulgwang movement which he developed regularly from 1974. I considered the necessity and background why he had to develop through this paper. The consideration under this background is Gwangdeok's chronology restructured as basis on materials of documents and testimony for Gwangdeok's whereabouts until 1974. The theme of his study is various for Gwangdeok's Buddhist thought, his anguish and dream, his status in the modern history of Buddhism, influence caused and succession of Bulgwang movement etc. I hope that this paper can be reference for scholars, younger students and people who deeply want to know monk Gwangdeok. |
