| 抄録 | 이 글은 한국 현대불교사에서 중요한 행적을 남긴 고승인 월산(1913∼1997)의 생애와 사상을 역사적인 맥락에서 정리한 논고이다. 월산은 생애 후반부는 불국사 주지를 하면서 경주불교와 불국사 교구에서 활동을 하였다. 그리고 그는 조계종단의 중요 본사의 주지, 총무원장, 원로의장 등을 역임하였으나 지금껏 그에 대한 연구는 거의 없었다. 그래서 이 글은 그의 연구에 대한 서론의 성격이 있다. 그래서 이 글에서 필자는 다음과 같은 측면을 서술하고자 하였다. 첫째, 월산의 수행의 과정 및 성격을 정리하였다. 문헌적 근거와 신뢰할 수 있는 증언에 의지하여 서술하였다. 둘째, 불교정화운동에서의 역할을 정리하였다. 월산은 그의 은사인 금오와 함께 정화운동 최일선에서 활동하였는데, 그는 실무자이었다. 셋째, 조계종단에서 담당한 직무에 대한 내용을 총체적으로 정리하였다. 그는 법주사, 동화사, 신흥사, 불국사의 주지를 역임하였다. 그는 총무원장, 원로의장을 역임하였고 법보신문을 창간하는 등 다양한 활동을 하였다. 넷째, 월산의 불교사상을 도출하였다. 필자는 선사상과 중도사상을 그의 사상의 초점으로 보았다. 여하튼 이 글이 월산의 생애와 사상, 현대기의 불국사의 역사, 월산문도의 역사 등의 이해에 참고가 되길 기대한다.
This review is an article that summarizes the life and thoughts of Wolsan (월산, 1913∼1997), a Korean Buddhist monk who left an important mark in Korean modern Buddhist history, in a historical context. Wolsan was active in Gyeongju Buddhism and Bulguksa dioceses in the latter half of his life, serving as the master of Bulguksa Temple. And he served as the head of the Jogye Order's important headquarters, its chief executive officer, and the head of the Wonro, but there has been little research on him so far. So this article has the nature of the introduction to his research. So in this review, I tried to describe the following aspects. First, the process and nature of the performance of Wolsan were organized. described on the basis of literary evidence and reliable testimony Second, I organized my role in the Buddhist purification movement. Wolsan, along with his benefactor, Geum-oh(금오), was at the forefront of the purification movement, which he was a working-level official. Third, the entire contents of the duties of the Jogye Order were compiled. He served as the head of Beopju Temple, Donghwa Temple, Shinheungsa Temple, and Bulguksa Temple. He served as the president of the General Affairs Office and the president of the Wonro Office, and was involved in various activities, including the creation of the newspaper. Fourth, I came up with the Buddhist idea of Wolsan. I saw prehistoric and centrist thought as the focal point of his thought. However, I hope this review will serve as a reference to the understanding of Wolsan's life and thoughts, the history of Bulguksa in modern times, and the history of Wolsan Mundo.
