| 抄録 | 현대사회가 인종문화적으로 다양한 ‘다문화사회’로 규정된다면, 문화적 다양성은 더 이상 선택의 문제가 아니라 주어진 삶의 조건이 되었다는 의미일 것이다. 그리고 현대 다문화사회가 문화적 다양성 내지 복수성을 전제로 하는 개념이라면, 서로 다른 문화들 사이의 관계성 문제는 중요한 문제꺼리일수밖에 없다. 본 연구는 다문화라는 시대 맥락에서 제기되는 문제들을 불교 중관학과 상호문화철학의 관점에 입각한 문화들 사이의 관계에 대한 철학적 성찰을 목적으로 한다. 현대 다문화 사회가 제기하는 물음들이 문화들 사이의 관계성을 문제 삼는다는 점에서 불교 중관학과 상호문화철학의 과제와 일정하게 겹치고, 그런 한에서 중관학과 상호문화철학의 방법은 현대 다문화 사회에 대한 새로운 접근법이 될 수 있다. 불교 중관학과 상호문화철학은 ‘중도 존재론’에서 만나는데, 그 연결고리를 ‘중도’와 ‘상호문화성’ 개념에 있다. ‘중도’는 중관학의 철학적 입장을 나타내는 핵심 개념으로서 언어의 세계가 아닌 세계 존재 자체에 대한 통찰로 인도하고, ‘상호문화성’은 상호문화철학의 특성을 규정하는 핵심 개념으로서 문화들의 바람직한 관계성을 위한 규제적 이념의 역할을 한다. 그러므로 중관학과 상호문화철학의 만남을 통한 중도 존재론에 입각한 현대 다문화사회 이해는, 비서구 전통의 언어에 의한 서구 읽기의 일환으로서, 유럽중심주의적 맥락에 균열을 일으키는 새로운 접근법이라고 할 수 있다.
If modern society is defined as a multicultural society that is ethnically and culturally diverse, cultural diversity will no longer be a matter of choice, but a means of living. And if the modern multicultural society is a concept that presupposes cultural diversity or pluralism, the relationship between different cultures will be an important issue. This study aims at philosophical reflection on the relations between cultures based on Buddhist Mādhyamika and intercultural- philosophy. The questions caused by modern multicultural societies are consistently overlapping with the challenges of Buddhism Mādhyamika and intercultural philosophy in view of inter-cultural relations can be a new approach to overcome some problems. Buddhist Mādhyamika and intercultural-philosophy meet in the ‘middle-way ontology’, and the connection is in the concepts of ‘middle-way’ and ‘interculturality’. ‘Middle-way’ is a key concept that represents the philosophical position of Mādhyamika, leading to insight into the world's existence itself, not the world of language. And ‘Interculturality’ is a core concept that defines the characteristics of intercultural-philosophy, and serves as a regulatory philosophy for the desirable relationship of cultures. Therefore, it is a new research that creates a crack in the European-centrism context as part of the Western reading by the language of non-Western tradition, which is the understanding of modern multicultural society based on the middle-way ontology through the meeting of Mādhyamika and intercultural-philosophy. |
