| 抄録 | 의상계 화엄학에 전승된 지엄의 교설은 신빙성이나 가탁설 여부에 관계없이 ‘지엄의 권위’로서 막대한 영향을 끼쳤다. 육상에 관한 지엄 교설은 『총수록』 편자가 인용한 『육상장』의 게송, 『고기』에서 전하는 수전법의 유래와 십중총별이다. 첫째, 『육상장』의 게송은 지엄 작(作)일 가능성이 크다. 법장은 타인의 저작을 인용하는데 있어서 엄밀하지 못하고 『오교장』의 현존 텍스트(text) 성립에도 개변이 있었다. 『신편제종교장총록』, 『원종문류』도 『육상장』의 존재를 뒷받침하고 있다. 또한 『총수록』 편자의 『오교장』 인용 방식은 중요한 단서가 되고 있다. 둘째, 육상에 대한 지엄의 기본 인식은 일승과 삼승 사이에 가로막혀 있는문을 여는 열쇠이다. 천친 보살은 천축(天竺) 사람들이 육상을 이해하지 못하여 총지법으로, 지엄은 동쪽 땅의 사람들이 총지법을 이해하지 못하여 수전법으로 가리켜 보였다. 수전법 유래에 관한 교설은 『오십요문답』의 누관비유에 육상과 총지법·수전법이 부가된 형태이다. 셋째, 십중총별은 표면적으로 총·별만을 취해 육상을 설하였다. 전반 오중은 총·별의 동과 이이다. 내용적으로는 총·별·동·이인 것이다. 후반 오중은 총·별의 무분별이다. 무주는 지, 실상은 지의 분별을 떠난 것, 법성은 이지의 구족으로 차별된다. 해인은 법성 중의 불가설, 증은 법성불가설 중의설·불설로 유추해 볼 수 있다. 증총·증별은 십중총별의 귀착점이 깨달음에 있다는 사실을 대변하고 있다
Chih-yen(智儼, 602~668)’s teaching, handed down to Uisang school of Hua-yen thought, had a profound influence as the ‘authority of Chih-yen’, regardless of its reliability. The teaching of ‘six aspects’ (六相) of all phenomena by Chih-yen consists of three parts: gatha in the Liu-hsiang chang (『六相章』), an essay on the doctrine of the ‘six aspects’ of all phenomena, the origin of ‘the theory to count money’ (數錢法), ‘the tenfold connection between wholeness and diversity’ (十重總別). First, the gatha is likely to be Chih-yen’s work. Fa-tsang(法藏, 643~712)’s citation policy was not rigorous and there were also changes in the existing text of the Wu-chiao chang (『五敎章』), an essay on the doctrine of the ‘five teaching’. The existence of Liu-hsiang chang written by Chih-yen is supported by Sinpyeonjejonggyojangchongrok (『新編諸宗敎藏總錄』), the newly edited total catalogue of entire Buddhist sects’ commentaries on the Tripitaka, and Wonjong-munryu (『圓宗文類『), the commentaries on the writings from the famous Chinese priests. We can find important clues in the way of quoting passages from Wu-chiao chang by the editor of Beopgyedogi-chongsurok (『法界圖記叢髓錄』), a collection of essential records on the dharma diagram. Second, Chih-yen basically recognized ‘six aspects’ of all phenomena as the key to open the door between one vehicle and three vehicle. As Indians didn’t understand ‘six aspects’, Vasubanandhu taught them dharani instead. And Chinese people didn’t understand dharani, so Chih-yen taught them ‘the theory to count money’. The teaching by Chih-yen is based on the metaphor in Hua-yen wu-shih yao wen-ta (『華嚴五十要問答』), a collection of the fifty-three questions and answers regarding specific doctrines, together with dharani and ‘the theory to count money’ Third, while ‘the tenfold connection between wholeness and diversity’ explains ‘six aspects’ using only wholeness (總) and diversity (別) on the surface, it employs also universality (同) and particularity (異) implicitly. Fivefold connection of the first half means universality and particularity between wholeness and diversity, and that of the second half means indifference between wholeness and diversity. Each one of them is different in terms of principle and wisdom (理·智) or speakable and unspeakable (說·不可說). The tenth connection represents that the point is enlightenment. |
