| 抄録 | 조선 후기의 선리논쟁은 약 백여 년에 걸쳐 전개된 한국 선종의 역사이다. 이에 대하여 두 가지 관점에서 고찰하였다. 첫째는 횡적인 관점이다. 백파가 임제삼구에 근거하여 선리에 대한 제관점을 내세운 것에 대하여 초의가 일곱 가지 주제에 대하여 비판을 하였고, 백파의 견해에 대하여 우담은 초의와 다른 시각에서 네 가지 주제에 대하여 비판을 하였으며, 설두는 백파의 견해를 옹호하며 초의의 견해에 대해서는 여덟 가지에 대하여 반박하였고, 우담의 비판에 대해서는 네 가지 주제에 대하여 반박하였다. 축원은 백파와 우담과 설두의 견해에 대하여 비판을 가하면서도, 백파와 초의와 우담과 설두의 四家의 견해를 종합적으로 수렴하는 입장이었다. 둘째는 종적인 구심점이다. 백파로부터 축원에 이르기까지 통시적으로 끊임없이 이들 논쟁을 관통하는 주제는 임제삼구, 삼처전심 및 조사선·여래선·격외선·의리선의 관념과 배대, 살·활의 적용 등으로 연결되는 일련의 개념들에 대한 錯綜이다. 백파는 조사선과 여래선과 의리선의 삼종선으로 분류하였다. 초의는 인명에 의거하면 조사선과 여래선이고, 법에 의거하면 격외선과 의리선이라고 하여 백파의 삼종선에 대하여 양중의 이종선의 개념을 내세운다. 우담은 백파의 삼종선 자체는 부정하지 않으면서도 그 의미에 대해서는 비판한다. 설두는 제일처인 다자탑전분반좌는 살인도에 해당하고, 제이처인 영산회상염회미소는 활인검에 해당하며, 제삼처인 사라수하곽시쌍부는 殺活齊示에 해당한다고 보았다. 축원은 의리와 격외에는 모두 여래선과 조사선의 이선이 갖추어져 있다. 의리와 격외는 能具의 선이고, 여래와 조사는 所具의 선이다. 그래서 조사선과 여래선을 각각 격외선과 의리선의 관계로 논할 수 없다고 부정한다. 조선 후기에 촉발된 선리논쟁의 양상은 횡적으로는 인물들 간의 비판과 옹호와 반박으로 착종된 모습을 보여주었지만, 종적으로는 삼구와 삼처전심과 선의 분류와 살활이 서로 일정 부분 관련된 모습으로 선리논쟁의 전체를 관통하는 통시적인 주제가 포함되어 있다.
In this paper, two points were identified about the controversy of Sunni in the late Joseon Dynasty. The first is a lateral perspective. Backpa-geungsun put forward the Zen-theory on various topics in the Seonmoonsugyeong. In this regard, Choui-Uisoon criticized seven themes. Udam-Honggi criticized four themes from a different perspective from Choui-Uisoon. Suldoo-Yohyung defended Backpa-geungsun's views, but refuted Choui-Uisoon's views in eight ways. In addition, Udam-Honggi's views were refuted in four ways. Chookwon-Jinha also criticized the views of Backpa-geungsun, Udam-Honggi and Suldoo-Yoohyung respectively. And again, the four views of Backpa-geungsun, Choui-Uisoon, Udam-Honggi and Suldoo-Yoohyung were synthesized. The second is a vertical centripetal point. From Backpa-geungsun to Chookwon-Jinha, the diachronic theme is a criticism of the three zens related to the three phases of Linjie(臨濟三句), the discrimination of convey one's mind in the three places(三處傳心), a criticism of the distribution of the Tathagata-zen and patriaarch-zen(如來禪·祖師禪.), A word that kills people and a word to save people(殺人刀·活人劍), and the out of form-zen and the based on doctrine-zen(格外禪·義理禪). Backpa-geungsun classified into three zens: the Tathagata-zen, the patriaarch-zen and the based on doctrine-zen. Choui-Uisoon claims that the Tathagata-zen and the patriarch-zen based on the name of a person, and that the out of form-zen and the based on doctrine-zen based on teaching. Udam-Honggi did not deny the three zens of Backpa-geungsun themselves, but criticized the meaning. Suldoo-Yoohyung is first of the discrimination of conveyor one's mind in the three places is A word that kills people, and second is a word to save peoples in the three places, and third is to show A word that kills people and a word to save people together. Chookwon-Jinha says that the out of form-zen and the based on doctrine-zen all have two zens: the Tathagata-zen and the patriarch-zen. The Zen-theory Arguments in the late Joseon Dynasty were shown in two ways: first, it was a mixture of criticism, advocacy and refutation among people. The following four themes are the three phases of Linjie, he discrimination of conveyor one's mind in the three places, the type of zen, and A word that kills people and a word to save people. |
