| 抄録 | In this paper an attempt has been made to give a narrative of flora and fauna of this land of sylvan beauty and an exquisite external and internal divine sphere of the land. There are some of the enchanting and thrilling passages of the description of the land in the original Tibetan version. The revealers of hidden treasure have given various narrative of the sBas-Yul 'Bras-Mo-ljong's derivative meaning of the name of the land. (i)Valley of fruits, (ii)Hidden Valley, (iii)Bar-yul or the country sandwiched between the two countries i.e., Nepal and Bhutan. The last is the new found interpretation which is never found in so far modern books on Sikkim.
The Guru Padmasambhava/Maha Guru Padmasambhava visited and blessed this sacred land along with his twenty five disciples in the second half of the eighth century A.D. He consecrated many holy shrines of Dakkar Tashiding in West Sikkim. I tried to explain why the land is held in high esteem and holy with functioning of monasteries and Mani Lhakhangs. A description of the four caves are also given. In four cardinal points around the Tashiding are (i)The East Bayphug or the secret cave lies between the Tendong and Maynom mountains. (ii)The South Khandu Sangphug, as the cave resort of oc-cult fairies.Here is a hot spring and on the rock are foot prints of the Guru. (iii)The West Dechen phug or cave of the Great Happiness. It is in the snow near Dzongri. (iv)The North Lhari Nyingphug or the central cave of Gods on the hill.situated along the most difficult path and most holy of the four. I think this narrative of the Bayul Demozong may benefit the Buddhist pilgrims and may inspire the devout travellers in Sikkim. |
