| 抄録 | 『육띠디삐까』(Yuktidīpikā)는 상캬학파의 고전적인 저작인 『상캬까리까』(Sāṃkhyakārikā)에 대한 가장 중요한 주석서이다. 『육띠디삐까』의 저자는 『상캬까리까』 1-2송을 주석하며 이와 관련된 불교도 및 미맘사학파와의 논쟁을 소개하고 있다. 본고는 이 논쟁과 관련하여 『육띠디삐까』의 저자가 불교와 미맘사 사이에서 취하고 있는 태도를 분석하였다. 이 논쟁 속에서 『육띠디삐까』의 저자는 불교도와 미맘사학파의 비판에 대해 표면적으로는 반론을 펼치고 있지만 흥미롭게도 내용적으로는 그것을 수용하고 있다. 이는 그가 논적들 각각에 대항하며 『상캬까리까』 제 2송에 대한 독자적인 해석을 감행하는 것에 잘 드러나 있다. 이러한 『육띠디삐까』의 저자의 태도는 불교의 출세간적인 성격과 미맘사학파가 내세우는 인도 사회 속에서의 정통성 양자를 모두 상캬학파의 것으로 수용하려는 의도로 보인다. 『육띠디삐까』 서두에 소개된 이 두 논쟁은 이른바 ‘베다 제식에 비판적인 바라문들’로 규정되는 상캬학파의 독특한 정체성을 구체적으로 잘 보여주고 있다고 생각된다.
The The Yuktīdīpikā is the “most significant commentary” on the Sāṃkhyakārikā which ushered in the classical period of the Sāṃkhya system. The author of the Yuktidīpikā, as he comments on the first two verses of the Sāṃkhyakārikā, introduces two critiques of the Sāṃkhyas by Buddhists and the Mīmāṃsakas, respectively. This paper analyses the stance that the author of the Yuktidīpikā takes between Buddhists and the Mīmāṃsakas. In those two debates, although the author of the Yuktid-īpikā puts forward counter-arguments against the critiques on the surface, interestingly, he acknowledges and accepts the contents of them. In so doing, he presents two forced interpretations of the first half of the second verse of the Sāṃk-hyakārikā to meet the need of confronting his two opponents. The stance that the author of the Yuktidīpikā takes shows his intention to embrace the trans-mundane characteristic of Buddhists and the social legitimacy governed by the Vedic values and advocated by the Mīmāṃsakas. The two debates introduced in the beginning of the Yuktidīpikā concretely reveal the unique identity of the Sāṃkhyas as the “brahmins critical to Vedic sacrifices.” |
