| 抄録 | 本文企圖探討下列二個問題：
（一） 世界上有眾多的佛教文化類型（南傳、漢傳、藏傳、日本等四大系及其他支系）。這些不同類型的佛教文化有何等基本差異？
（二）佛教已經在人類舞台存在了二千多年。在這長時間的發展過程中，是什麽樣的環節（發展過程及其關鍵點）使各類型的佛教形成自己的獨特文化性格？
本文從宏觀的視野，發現佛教發展過程中，必須經過承襲與衍生二階段。承襲階段，有「抉擇」與「揚棄」二種現象。衍生出新宗義之後，也可能面臨「認同」與「挑戰」。宗派的形成、與法諍的出現，就依違在認同與挑戰之間而逐漸形成。從上述佛教發展過程中的重要環節，我們大體可以窺見佛教多元傳承的粗略線索，以及佛教何以類型各異的主要原因。
This article attempts to discuss the following two issues:
1. There are various Buddhist cultural traditions/forms available in the world today (such as the Theravada, Chinese Mahayana, Tibetan, Japanese and others). What are the fundamental differences among the various Buddhist traditions?
2. Buddhism has been in existence for more than 2000 years. In the course of its development, what phases (process of development and its critical/turning points) have caused the formation of the unique cultural characteristics of these various traditions?
From a macro perspective, this article discovers two important phases in the course of development of Buddhism: "Inheriting" and "Reinventing". At the "Inheriting" phase, there are two important phenomena: "Choice" and "Discarding" At the "Reinventing" phase, its new teaching also faces the conflict of "Agreement" and "Challenges". The formation of different schools of practices and the
emerging of theological differences/disputes gradually take root in a competing atmosphere of "agreement" and "challenges". From these important phases in the development of Buddhism, we may realize the contributing factors to the various Buddhist traditions and their subsequent differences. |
