從俄烏戰爭事件，省思佛典中的戰爭觀=Discussion on Buddhist Approaches to Warfare as Found in the Scriptures Using Examples from the Current Russo-Ukrainian War |

| 抄録 | 本（2022）年 2 月 24 日，俄羅斯對烏克蘭展開侵略戰爭，舉世震 驚。烏克蘭隨即展開保衛戰，並且獲得了歐洲與北美盟友的強烈同情與 大力援助。這場戰爭擾亂了世界局勢，至今尚未平息。 本文舉出三則佛典故事：
一、長壽王為了避免戰禍而選擇退讓侵略者。
二、憍薩羅國琉璃王攻打迦毘羅衛國，並且屠滅釋迦族。
三、摩羯 陀國阿闍世王意圖攻打跋祇國，派遣雨勢大臣向佛請示，佛陀開示「七 不退法」。
由此提出如下三個問題，並於佛典中探索完整的答案：
一、能否在戰爭發生之前，先將戰事消弭於無形？
二、面對無可抗拒的戰爭，奮勇抵抗或棄械投降，哪一種態度與行動更符合佛法？
三、面對戰爭這種古往今來都在發生的暴力，佛陀在經典中的應對 （言教）與教導（身教），在現實世間有複製可操作性嗎？
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine initiating a major escalation in the ongoing Russo-Ukraine War that began in 2014. This aggression shocked the entire world. The Ukrainian leadership took immediate action to protect and defend its own country and has since gained global empathy and solid assistance from European and North American allies. This war has disrupted the entire world and has not yet been resolved.
In this thesis, I will tell three classic stories from the Buddhist scriptures and use them to unfold four major points of discussion. The first story records that King Longevity chose to give up the throne to the invaders in order to avoid the suffering of the people from the war. The second story describes a time when King Viḍūḍabha of Kosala sent his army to Kapilavastu and extirpated the Sakyans. The other is regarding the Maghada-Viiji war during which King Ajātasattu from the Magadha Kingdom intended to conquer his neighboring Vajjika League. Therefore he sent his royal minister Vassakāra to consult with the Buddha, who gave an oral discourse on the Seven Conditions of Welfare (Satta Aparihāniyā Dhammā), which would ensure the prosperity of a country.
Ergo, the author raises the following three questions, and hopes to find a complete answer in the Buddhist scriptures:
1. Is it possible to prevent warfare before its commencement?
2. In the face of an unavoidable war, which attitude is considered closer to the Buddhist approach: fighting bravely or surrendering?
3. War has existed throughout human history. Can the Buddha’s teachings on standing up for peace in the face of warfare (he himself has served as a living example by using his physical presence and potentially sacrificing himself to stop an aggressive army) be adapted to a contemporary context?
