About the Author Venerable S. Dhammika was born in Australia in 1951. He was ordained as a Buddhist monk in India and later lived in Sri Lanka where he became well known for his efforts to promote Buddhism. In 1985, he moved to Singapore to become spiritual advisor to the Buddha Dhamma Mandala Society, a post he held until 1992 when he returned to Sri Lanka. Ven. Dhammika has written numerous books and made several television films on Buddhism. Susan Harmer was born in Singapore in 1955. She taught music in England for many years before returning to Singapore in 1989 to embark on a career as an illustrator. Since then, she has worked extensively in both advertising and publishing. She now spends her time equally between teaching music and illustrating books. Her keen interest in Buddhism has led her to collaborate with Ven. Dhammika on Great Buddhist Stories.
