The music models of the cave temples in Xinjiang are very rich. On the whole, there are two different systems for the music model of the cave temples in the Western Regions, i.e. the Western Regions system centered on Qiuci and China Central Plains system center on Gaochang. They overlapped and interacted with each other in different historical phases. This paper, combining with the history of the Western Regions and the development history of Buddhism, gives an overall discussion on the origin, attribute, f unction and shape and structure of musical instruments in the cave temples of t he Western Regions.
