The Chinese translation of Buddhist scriptures is an epochal event in the history of Chinese culture. It had lasted for more than one thousand years and has changed the Chinese vernacular culture radically, and therefore, has changed the direction of Chinese culture in its development to a greater extent. The influences of the Chinese translation of Buddhist scriptures can be seen mainly in its providing Chinese poetics with some philosophical frameworks and its contributions to the making, transformation and transp lanting of the aesthetic categories in Chinese poetics.
