The Pure Land is sought after by all schools of Buddhism. It is a result of the Buddhas'original vows and sen tient beings'faith and practice. There are three kinds of Pure Lands:the Pure Lands of another world,of the present world,and of the inner world,each kind comprising innumerable worlds in the ten directions of the universe and in the past,present,and future. In this article, available information concerning the subject has been collected from the Taisho Tripitaka and introduced to the reader,the establishment, classification,and beauty of each Pure Land are analyzed,and the background and the method of seeking for the Pure Land are explained. Among the innumerable lands, only a few most-often-heard-of ones are selected for treatment. They are compared, their special characteristics pointed out,and the reasons for their feasibilities explicated. Emphasis is placed on the Aksobhya Buddha Land in the east, the Amitabha Buddha Land in the west,the Human Pure Land in the `Saha` World,and the Maitreya Pure Land in the Tusita Heaven,with the last one receiving special focus.
