摘要 | The philosopher of religion's primary task is to try to give a systematic description of particular religions; that is, with respect to each religion,to see how far a consistent and coherent account can be given of the relationships between its elements. These elements cannot be confined to theology, but include religious practices of all kinds. This thesis is illustrated by discussions of Vedic sacrifice, and the early Buddhist account of the goal (nirvana). Finally some remarks are made about what would follow if any particular religion were found to be,or not to be,consistent and coherent. |
