摘要 | An attempt is made to clear up basic misconceptions which have tended to generate a distorted picture of buddhism. these misconceptions are usually based on historical, ideological and linguistic factors. analysis is made of such ideas as pessimism, nihilism, monism, dualism, pluralism, monotheism, polytheism, pantheism, agnosticism, atheism, relativism and asceticism. it concludes that (a) the use of labels is outmoded,(b) one must strive for a rapport and understanding between the true doctrines and the institutions which house them, and (c) clearing up misconceptions should positively open up the path to true buddhist understanding. |
