Abstract: There are 11 pictures about jing Bian of Lankavatara sutra at Mogao Grottoes dated from MidTanguntil Northern song. 1 present an introduction of My study on the murals. They were painted according to’siksananda’s translation. They are quite different in artistic style from other sutra pictures. Discussions on Dunhuang version of Lankavatarasutra are provided, too. I think it erroneous to claim there is a Tan Wu-chen’s translation among Dunhuang manuscripts and further clarrify certain viewpoints concerning the believes and the date of production of the Jing bian of sutrs.
