Two less known grotto shrines are located at Zuoquan, respectively at Shifuosi 3. 5 km west of, and at Gaohuanyundong 20 km southeast of, the county seat. The shrine at Shifosi consists of two cauescontaining three recesses on its three walls that enshrine Buddha, Bodhissattva and guardian respectively. All of them were built during the period of the Northern Wei and Eastern Wei dynasties. The Gaohuanyundong shrine is actually a big but unfinished one. Judging by its finished part, it should be a hall of three bays, similar to the Northern and Middle Caves at the famous Northern Xiangtang Grottoes at Handan. Its date could not be later than the Northern Qi dynasty. Its location on the communication line between the two capitals implies a close relationship of the shrines with the royal family.
