This paper is based on AAgama Suutras to investigate the `samatha and vipa`syanaa techniques taught by Sakyamuni Buddha. In respect of `samatha, the Buddha's major teaching is the observation of aanaapaana (in-breath and out-breath). While in respect of vipa`syanaa, the focus is the observation of aggregates, bases, dependent origination, nutriments, truths, elements and sensation. In the meantime, "sensation" is taken as the key point of whole practice. The practice of `samatha and vipa`syanaa is a must for the sraavaka and the odhisattva on the path of enlightenment.
