Dai People in Xishuangbanna Region all believe in Hinyanan. Although the Dai's feudal rule in the history wasn't a combination of politics and religions, the Hinayana did have a deep influence on Dai society, including its legal system. The influence can be found in the special protection provided by the feudal law to Buddhism, in the standardizing role of Buddhist discipline in the people's behavior, and in the relations between Buddhism and the regime of feudal lord system, Buddhism and the system of lawsuit and judgement, and Buddhism and the means of punishments.
