摘要
The meaning of building a Pure Land on Earth is looked at first in the paper. It is pointed out that a basic condition of the Pure Land is the practice of Dharma, in other words, the practices of Concentration and Wisdom are of the utmost importance for those who would enter the Pure Land. These practices need to be acceptable to all people and be such that they can be practiced at any time. Further, the practice should be result-oriented and scientific in nature.
In this complicated modern life, the following techniques as suggested and taught by Gotama, the Buddha, are second to none. They are: Direct observation of the respiration in order to concentrate one's mind. Direct observation of the changing nature of the interaction of our mind and body, knowing that by observing that change we will develop wisdom.
Using these universal techniques across all religions and cultures, we can begin to transform our Earth into a Pure Land.
The final point of this paper likes at the spreading of Dharma in Ashoka's time in India as an example illustrating the possibilities of building a Pure Land on the Earth in this current age.
