As a supplement to Li Yukun's earlier article "Buddhism during the Northern Dynasties based on the stela inscriptions from Longmen Caves", the present one focuses on the following: 1) the political aspect of Buddhism as practised in the Northern court, 2) the successful soread of Buddhism across all social classes in the north, 3) Buddhist lay organizations and their composition, 4) Buddhism as practised among Han Chinese and non-Han minorities, 5) Buddhism in Luoyang after the Ye city became the new seat of government
