They're arranged under seven main headings: Foundations, the Path, Meditation, Compassion, Emptiness, Mind of the Buddhas, and Realization. While it would be easy for such a selection to become mushy or confusing, Ray is extraordinarily adept at selecting and arranging so as to create a lively experience of looking at an important issue from the viewpoint of a number of remarkable teachers. One comes away from even a few minutes' reading feeling enlivened, challenged, and profoundly grateful for a tradition that is ancient, profound, and amazingly fresh. In the back of the book are a glossary, short bios on many of the teachers, and sources of the excerpts he's selected--all very helpful.
