The main issue of this thesis is to explore both the relationship and effect from Pali“Dhammapada”to Chinese“Forty-two chapters sutra”. On the problem consciousness of study, it is derived from the significance and effect of “Forty-two chapters sutra” to Vietnam Buddhism. To research the upstream of issue, the main source of“Forty-two chapters sutra”, Buddhism coming easterly, and Buddhism sutra translation are associated ; to expand the downstream, both the thinking from“Dhammapada”to“Forty-two chapters sutra”and the meaning of link between Chinese and Vietnam Buddhism are included. On the layout of this thesis, Pali“Dhammapada”states about the source and the version issues and Chinese“Forty-two chapters sutra”is followed up the main source. The exploring for the relationship among both sutras and then the presenting of their teaching and language styles are incorporated in this thesis to expect some clues on the argument of Chinese“Forty-two chapters sutra”about true or false. While discussing the developing of Pali“Dhammapada”, it is necessary to state the relative correlation both the Buddhism broadcasting worldwide at Asoka period and the national situation on Chin-Ham Dynasty. Asoka dispatches the eighth and ninth groups to spread Buddhism outside Hindi. The argument and the reason on which route early coming to China through Vietnam are described. To search the basis and the teaching of“Dhammapada”and also to investigate the effect of Buddha using language strategy at early stage are presented. How to identify the true or false of“Forty-two chapters sutra”and how to create and to establish the mechanism model of Buddhism translation are also recommend here. The upstream mentioned above is to meet the continuity and coherence of the whole thesis. As to the downstream, some topics based on main issue are stated. First is the meaning to the developing of Chinese Buddhism caused from the thinking and effect of the issue; Second is the important and effect of“Forty- two chapters sutra”to Vietnam Buddhism.
