The discovery of the statues of the Longxing Temple at Qingzhou were regarded as one of the ten major archaeological discoveries in 1996 and among the one hundred greatest archaeological discoveries of China in the 20th century.By analyzing the documents and materials about epigraphy,this paper verifies the important historical facts about image construction conducted by the Cui family at the Longxing Temple.The noble and powerful Cui family greatly promoted the image construction at the Longxing temple,which not only explains why the statues in the Longxing Temple were so exquisite,but also provides a good understanding of the artistic value of the statues.
