摘要
The article explores Pure Land Buddhism which traditionally refers to texts and practices dedicated to the solar deity Amitàbha, the Buddha of Unlimited Luminosity. It informs that the designation Pure Land Buddhism was originally coined to highlight trends of Mahayana Buddhism in East Asia. The article also mentions that the scriptural foundation of Pure Land traditions consists of three Mahayana sutras, namely the long and short Sukhavativyuha sutras and the Meditation on Amitayus.
