Conflict (Psychology) -- Religious aspects -- Buddhism; Mara (Buddhist deity)
摘要
The writer discusses Buddha's response to death and how he conquered it with “fearless wakefulness.” He examines how wakefulness, rather than birth, life-affirmation, or destruction of death, is the opposite to death. He explains that the Buddha's teaching of non-contention, of not quarreling with anyone in the world, and his compassion for abusers can resolve many of the burning issues that trouble the present world. He argues that the Buddha's fundamental gesture of being faithful to Reality in the form of pure presence and complete non-contention will ensure that the very best is done. He presents a series of full color photographs of statues and carvings relating to Buddhism from the British Museum.
