This article first expounds how Masao Abe interpret Buddhist idea of sunyata in the context of Buddhist-Christian Dialogue, pointing out that the most important characteristic of his interpretation is taking Sunyata as a dynamic activity rather than a static state. Then it examines some scholar’s views on Abe’s interpretation, arguing that Dynamic Sunyata is quite different from traditional Chinese Buddhist thought. Finally,by a comparative study of his interpretation of Sunyata and process thought,it finds out that Abe’s understanding of“Dynamic sunyata”is probably inspired by the religious dialogue,therefore Abe’s understanding of Buddhism is also transformed in a fundamental way by Christian thought.
